Matthew C. Schultheis, CFA - Financial Services
Mr. Schultheis joined Boenning & Scattergood, Inc. in July 2008 and covers the financial services sector. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has considerable experience researching and analyzing companies in the financial services sector, specifically banks. Prior to Boenning & Scattergood, Inc. Mr. Schultheis worked for Ferris, Baker Watts, Inc. (FBW) from September 2003 through June 2008 as an analyst following banks, specialty finance companies and REITs. Before joining FBW, he spent time in various banking positions focusing on asset/liability management and strategic planning including mergers and acquisitions analysis. Mr. Schultheis earned his BA from Dickinson College.
Gerard J. Sweeney - Water & Infrastructure
Mr. Sweeney rejoined Boenning & Scattergood in September 2010 as a research analyst covering water and infrastructure. Previously Mr. Sweeney was an analyst and portfolio manager for a registered investment advisor where he oversaw research on companies influenced by water related issues. He has over 10 years experience in the financial field and has held positions in equity syndicate and institutional equity sales. Mr. Sweeney is a 1996 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in History and received his MBA in 2007 from Temple’s Fox School of Business.
Richard Weiss - Financial Services
Rick Weiss joined Boenning & Scattergood in May 2013 to cover thrifts and mortgage REITs. He was selected by Forbes and Starmine in 2010 and 2006, as one of the top stock pickers for the thrift and mortgage finance industry and by The Wall Street Journal as “Best on the Street” in the 2004 Analysts survey. Prior to joining Boenning & Scattergood, he was Director of Bank and Thrifts in the Research Department at Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC in Philadelphia. Mr. Weiss is regarded as an industry expert and often quoted in financial media outlets including The Wall Street Transcript, Dow Jones News, American Banker and SNL Financial. Before Janney, he worked for Ryan, Beck & Co. in the corporate finance division. Mr. Weiss earned his MBA in Finance and Investments from George Washington University and a BS in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University.
