Mike Hughes serves as Managing Director in the financial services, commercial, and industrial sectors of Boenning & Scattergood’s Investment Banking practice. He has over 35 years of experience in executing mergers and acquisitions, private placements of debt and equity capital, and management buyouts in a wide range of industries as both a C-level executive as well as an advisor.
Prior to joining Boenning & Scattergood, Mike was Chief Financial Officer of National Penn Bancshares, a $9.6 billion bank that sold to BB&T Corp. for $1.6 billion. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of SPI (a national building products distributor), Woodstream Corporation (a consumer products manufacturer), and The Hershey Bank. Mike also held a senior role at Meridian Bancorp, managing its M&A function. In addition, he served as Chief Operating Officer of a regional investment banking firm and Chief Restructuring Officer of Boscov Department Stores, leading a successful Chapter 11 restructuring.
Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of Boenning & Scattergood’s Fairness Opinion Committee and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Mike holds the FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses.
