If there’s one thing my family can agree on, it’s that life is better with a pug. My wife and I have a black pug named Hamilton, and he’s more than just our dog—he’s a full-blown personality in a tiny body. My sister has a pug named Tito, and my brother’s pug is called Gizmo. You could say we’re a pug dynasty at this point.
There’s something about pugs that just steals your heart.
Maybe it’s the way they snort like little piglets or their expressive, wide-eyed stares. Or maybe it’s their hilarious mix of stubbornness and affection. Pugs are equal parts comedian, couch potato, and loyal best friend. Hamilton can go from zooming around the living room like a maniac to snoring like an old man on the couch—all within the same five minutes.
Each of our pugs has their own vibe.
Hamilton is full of energy and always ready to play—which, to Tito’s dismay, usually means bothering him nonstop. Tito is the true couch potato of the bunch, perfectly content buried in a blanket and actively avoiding Hamilton’s chaos like the plague. Gizmo is the balance between the two—he’ll wrestle with Hamilton for a bit, then quietly retreat to his bed for some well-earned relaxation. They’re all different, and that’s what makes watching them interact so entertaining.
People sometimes underestimate pugs because of their size or because they’re not the typical “sporty” dog.
But let me tell you, they’ve got heart. They’re fiercely loyal and great with people, and they bring so much joy to everyone around them. They’re not just pets—they’re family.
So yes, my family is totally pug-obsessed, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Once you’ve had a pug, you get it—and there’s no going back.
