This summer, Chrisnetta, Journey, and I took our first family trip across the country to La Jolla, California. The main reason for the trip was to attend the wedding of one of my college friends, but we also had the chance to spend a few days exploring the area.
As first-time parents, we were a little nervous about taking a five-month-old on such a long flight. Thankfully, Journey proved us wrong. She handled the trip incredibly well and made the flight much easier than we expected.
It was a good reminder that sometimes we worry more than we need to.
Exploring La Jolla as a Family
While we were there, we visited the La Jolla Cave, the Birch Aquarium, and Windansea Beach.
The aquarium was a fun stop, and it was great watching Journey take in all the colors and activity around her. Seeing a new place through her eyes made the experience even more memorable.
Relaxing at Windansea Beach
Windansea Beach was probably my favorite part of our family trip to La Jolla.
The coastline is beautiful, with rocky cliffs, clear water, and waves that seem to go on forever. It was a great place to relax for a while, enjoy the California weather, and spend time together as a family.
Memories From Our First Family Adventure
It was a short trip, but it is one we will always remember.
Between celebrating a friend’s wedding, seeing a new part of the country, and traveling together as a family for the first time, it was the perfect summer getaway.
We are looking forward to many more family adventures with Journey in the years ahead.
